Carrier tape materials can be categorized as follows: PC (polycarbonate) material is characterized by high mechanical strength, good transparency, good dimensional stability, high glass transition temperature, and good heat resistance. PS (polystyrene) material has lower mechanical strength than PC, so it is sometimes combined with ABS (absylene) to form a three-layer composite sheet to improve the tensile strength of the carrier tape. PET (polyethylene terephthalate) material has mechanical strength close to PC, but due to its crystalline nature, it has poor dimensional stability.

Based on carrier tape forming methods:

Based on the forming method of the pocket, it can be divided into two types: intermittent and continuous forming methods. Compared with intermittent methods, continuous forming methods generally have better dimensional stability and higher product dimensional accuracy. Intermittent forming methods are more suitable for producing large-sized pockets.
